OUR APPROACH

We focus on the process. Good results follow from it.

“In the era of corporatization, marketing and competition in the field of education, TBTLC has chosen to stay away from these strategies.”

From our founders’ welcome message

Purpose before content

Every topic starts with what it is, why we learn it and where it applies. Learning without purpose is only a formality.

Questions are welcome

Students discuss, debate and question in class, with each other and with us. A quiet student is often held back by the teacher’s authority, so we make room.

No ready-made answers

Students work through problems with help close at hand. The struggle is where understanding forms and where independence begins.

Steady work, less exam stress

A short review after each topic replaces last-minute cramming, so students reach their school exams prepared and calmer.

HOW WE TEACH

Seven stages for every topic

Teaching and learning are two sides of the same process. This is how a topic moves from introduction to independent understanding at TBTLC.

01

Introduction

What we are learning, why, and how it applies to life.

02

The concept and its story

Background facts and stories first, so the textbook makes sense afterwards.

03

Think and question

Discussion and debate that build the habit of asking good questions.

04

Application

Solving problems and drawing conclusions with the teacher alongside.

05

Practice

Homework done independently, which is where a student becomes self-sufficient.

06

Getting help

Doubts are discussed at the start of the next class before we move on.

07

Review

A short test after each topic, so nothing waits for the night before an exam.

FOR PARENTS

Learning works best as a partnership

What we ask of parents

Know your child

Every child has their own strengths. A child who finds Mathematics hard is not failing at life, and should be able to learn without being pressured by a subject.

Limit expectations, widen hopes

Failing is part of learning. Children whose parents talk with them about their hopes, rather than measure them against expectations, face challenges more easily.

Stay in the loop

You receive regular updates on what was taught, the homework given and how your child is doing.
